Short answer first. VSF (VS Factory) is currently the most consistent factory in the replica world across three lines: Rolex, Omega and Panerai. In 2026 it also pushed the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 15500/15510 to a new level. Its real edge is not the finishing. It is the exclusive Dandong movement family: 3235, 3230, 3285, 3255, 4131, 8800, 8900 and now 4302. Other factories either cannot get these calibers or have to settle for Shanghai-made substitutes. The weaknesses are just as clear: VSF costs a tier more than its rivals, ships slowly, and the factory itself offers no after-sales service. As for which brand to buy, my ranking is Rolex first, Omega second, AP as the new dark horse, and Panerai for people who buy for the case and do not obsess over the movement. Let me go through it piece by piece.
Who VSF Actually Is: From KW to the Dandong Movement
Older collectors will remember KW Factory. That was VSF before the rename, and it started with Panerai. Around 2020 it rebranded as VS Factory and began pushing hard on Rolex and Omega. For years it barely did any marketing. Its reputation spread through dealers for one reason: customers almost never came back with movement failures. The return rate has sat around 1% for a long time, which is the lowest tier in this industry.
What really put VSF on top was the Dandong 3235. One caliber that fits the date Submariner, the Datejust 41 and the Yacht-Master, and nobody else on the market has it. From there Dandong added the 3230 (no-date models), the 3285 (GMT-Master II), the 3255 (Day-Date) and the 4130/4131 (Daytona). On the Omega side there are the 8800, 8500 and 8900, and in 2026 the AP 4302 joined the list. That movement line is VSF’s moat.
One clarification that overseas buyers get wrong all the time: Dandong is not a Swiss town. It is a border city in Liaoning province, China. DD3235, VS3235 and Dandong 3235 all refer to the same caliber. Anyone listing a “Swiss Dandong” movement either does not know better or is muddying the water on purpose. The other thing to separate is the SH3235. That is the Shanghai-made 3235 used by Clean and VR, and it is not the same movement.
Where to Buy VSF: Why I Point People to VSF Watches Hub
Let me state a fact up front. VSF has never had an official website and never will. Every site selling VSF watches, without exception, is an independent dealer operation. So the phrase “VSF official site” is a fiction, and anyone using it as a selling point deserves a raised eyebrow.
Among dealers, the one I usually recommend is VSF Watches Hub. The reasons are concrete. First, it only carries the top quality tier: over four hundred listed models covering VSF’s Rolex, Omega, Panerai and the new AP line, with no mid-tier or low-tier filler mixed in. Second, the operator has been in the trade since 2015 and is one of VSF’s core dealers, so version updates (Seamaster 300 moving from V3 to V4, Daytona moving from 4130 to 4131) reach them before they reach resellers. Third, the process is transparent: QC photos before shipping, duties included on US-bound parcels, SF Express in about 4 to 5 days or UPS/FedEx in 7 to 9, payment by PayPal, Wise or bank transfer, and a free reship if customs seizes a package. All of that can be checked on the site. None of it is a slogan.
Wherever you end up buying, three baseline checks will filter out most of the traps:
- The price floor. VSF’s cheapest watches sit around $400. A Submariner 126610LN retails from a dealer at roughly $600, a Daytona at $800 to $1,100. A VSF Sub at $400 is already wholesale cost, so anything below that cannot be VSF and is most likely an EWF or similar cheaper factory wearing the name.
- Honest lead times. With no stock on hand, VSF normally needs 5 to 8 days to ship. The factory’s own early-2026 notice was blunter: popular models are “in stock” on paper but take 3 to 15 days to actually leave, and some references go from available to gone overnight. A seller promising 24 to 48 hour dispatch on a non-stock VSF piece is a red flag.
- Caseback proof. Every VSF Rolex authentication ends at the movement. I will give the specific checkpoints further down. A seller who will not photograph the movement is a seller to skip.
How Good Is VSF Quality, Really? Component by Component
Movement: This Is Where VSF’s Confidence Comes From
Take the Dandong 3235. Twenty-seven ball bearings, bidirectional winding, a blue niobium-cobalt hairspring with a double overcoil, a centered PowerFlex shock absorber, and gold chatons around every jewel. Functionally it matches the genuine piece: the date can be set backwards, and it jumps instantly. There is an energy-storage mechanism on the date wheel that starts loading around 6 pm and releases at midnight in one snap, instead of the half-rotated date you get at 10 pm from a converted generic movement. Rated power reserve is 72 hours; we measure 68 to 69 in practice, with daily deviation around plus or minus 5 seconds. Against the Shanghai 3235, the Dandong wins on reserve, long-term stability and bridge finishing. The Shanghai version manages roughly 40 to 60 hours.
The 3230 is VSF’s own de-dated 3235, built for no-date models. It sounds minor. It is actually unique in the industry. Other factories drop a date movement into a no-date watch, so the first crown position is a dead stop that does nothing. VSF’s 3230 pulls straight into time-setting, exactly like the genuine 3230.
The rest follow the same standard. The 3285 for the GMT: 27 bearings, about 70 hours fully wound. The 3255 for the Day-Date: 70 hours, with both day and date as quick jumps. The 4131 for the new Daytona: vertical clutch and column wheel intact, total case thickness measured at 11.9 mm, identical to gen. On the Omega side, the Seamaster 300 V4 moved to the Dandong 8800 integrated movement, where every gear actually works. The V3 used a glued decorative plate that could come loose over time and jam the movement; the V4 has none of that, and the date now sets downward, matching the original. AP’s Dandong 4302 runs 70 to 72 hours with ceramic ball bearings under the rotor, so it barely makes a sound when you shake it.
Case, Bezel, Bracelet
The whole Rolex line is 904L steel. A 41 mm black Submariner measures 40.8 mm across (excluding bezel) and 12.5 mm thick, dead on with gen, and the case will even accept genuine parts and a genuine movement. The Datejust 41 V2 comes in at 11.7 mm thick and about 135 g, with a fluted bezel done in three-layer vacuum PVD that does not darken or peel. A 36 mm Explorer I with the protective film removed lands within 1 to 3 g of the Swiss piece.
The bezel is one of the two hardest parts of a Submariner (the other is the movement). VSF’s Sub ceramic inserts come from Clean’s supply chain, which started out as an aftermarket parts shop for genuine service work. These inserts never fade or oxidize, and side by side with a genuine bezel you cannot tell them apart by eye. On the GMT-Master II V3, the Pepsi bezel actually shifts from blue to red under UV light, the colour boundary has no black or white edge, and the bezel action is crisper and harder to wobble than Clean’s.
On the Omega Seamaster 300, the white bezel markings are fired enamel on a true ceramic insert, so they do not yellow or chip. The dial is real ceramic with the laser wave pattern, and the helium valve works. The two-tone lume (green on the lume pip and minute hand, ice blue elsewhere) matches gen.
Dial, Hands, Lume
Dial text is oil-pressure printed with a raised logo. Hands get a second polishing pass, no burrs, with a solid mushroom-shaped center post that reads as solid, three-dimensional and light-catching from the front, which is the three-point test genuine authenticators use. Lume is Swiss C3, ice blue. The Datejust even gets the semi-hidden laser-etched crown at 6 o’clock made of 152 dots. The old complaint about the lume pip being too white has been fixed over the last couple of years; the pip is now warmer than the markers, like gen.
Quality Control: The Biggest Gap Between VSF and Everyone Else
VSF is the only factory with a dust-free assembly room and dual (dynamic plus static) testing, and it claims a near-100% complete rate with no dust visible inside the case. From the dealer side, the feel is this: ten VSF pieces arrive, ten can ship as-is. With Clean in the same period, maybe three out of ten were perfect, and the rest had small issues like a black dot on the date disc, a slightly tilted cyclops or a stiff bracelet link. Water ingress has never happened with VSF or N Factory; Clean Subs have had it. That is why dealers like to sell VSF. There is no after-sales headache.
Weight: Weighted Versions Closed the Precious-Metal Gap
Before 2025 every gold-tone replica was lighter than gen, because 18k gold is much heavier than steel. VSF’s solution is a tungsten weighting ring inside the bezel area. It changes neither the look nor the thickness, and the weighted version costs about $200 more. The results fall into three bands. Steel pieces were already close: a steel Daytona at 142 g versus 145 g gen, impossible to tell without a scale. Two-tone pieces weighted land at 164 to 165 g, still ten-odd grams short of gen, because the center links are steel rather than karat gold. Platinum models have the biggest gap: an ice-blue weighted Daytona at 176 g against a genuine 950-platinum piece at 260 to 280 g. No weighting trick fixes that.
Water Resistance
We tested this ourselves: a Datejust, a Yacht-Master and a Daytona sat in a glass of water for about six hours with no ingress. Submariners and Seamasters are fine for swimming. Datejust and Daytona handle splashes and hand washing, but there is no reason to take them swimming on purpose.
Where VSF Falls Short: Honest Dealer Notes
At the product level VSF has almost no hard flaws. The problems are operational, plus a few model-specific issues.
- Slow shipping, and getting slower. They used to ship every two days. Now it is one batch every one to two weeks, because the factory puts safe operation above everything. The 2026 rhythm looks roughly like this: popular Panerai same day, slower Panerai 2 to 7 days; Omega Seamaster next day if in stock, 007 and Planet Ocean V4 3 to 7 days; Rolex on the 3135/3235/3285 calibers generally around 7 days; Datejust V2 same day if market stock exists, a long wait if not.
- A tier more expensive. That is the price of exclusive movements and of the QC.
- No factory after-sales. VSF says so explicitly. The movements are proprietary and parts are not sold outside. The upside is that almost nothing leaves the factory broken, and what does fail is usually a loosened screw from a drop. A skilled watchmaker needs at least three hours to fully strip a Dandong 3235, and a routine service costs a fraction of a genuine 3235 service. In practice the dealer is your warranty, which is why dealer choice matters so much.
- The Seamaster 300 crown issue. After roughly 18 to 24 months of wear the crown threads can strip, from frequent winding and from screwing the crown down at an angle. The correct technique is to push the crown in with a slight side-to-side wiggle so the threads seat themselves, then tighten. With the V4’s integrated movement winding efficiently on its own, you hand-wind far less, so this should ease.
- A recent Daytona batch issue. A late-January 2026 batch of 4131 panda Daytonas came with noticeably wider sub-dial rings, closer to the old 4130 look. The check: on the 3 o’clock sub-dial, the numeral “10” should sit tight against the ring edge. On the wide version it floats visibly higher. Look there first.
- Panerai runs on a single movement. Every VSF Panerai uses the P9000, with only the engraving changed per reference (P9010, OP and so on). So 42 mm models run thicker than gen, and VSF does not make 40 mm Panerai at all. The Dandong P9000 is also unidirectional winding, so the rotor spins fast and the whole watch shudders when you flick your wrist.
- Dial colour varies by batch. Newer blue Datejust dials run deeper with a softer sunburst; older batches were the reverse. Genuine dials vary between batches too, but you should know this before buying.
- Discontinued models being impersonated. The third-generation De Ville is discontinued and on clearance, and some sellers pass off KY Factory De Villes as VSF. The fifth-generation Constellation’s coloured special dials are being trimmed; expect only the classic blue and black to remain.
Which VSF Brand Is Worth Buying? One Table
| Brand | Rating | Core strength | Price range (USD) | One-line advice |
| Rolex | ★★★★★ | Exclusive Dandong 3235/3230/3285/3255/4131, steadiest QC | 600 – 1,100 | If you want the best, start here |
| Omega | ★★★★☆ | Seamaster 300 V4 integrated movement is the highest version on the market, nobody close | 380 – 550 | Best value line |
| Audemars Piguet | ★★★★☆ | Dandong 4302 with 70+ hours, colour accuracy and details beat APS | Ask per model | The long-term pick now that APS is down |
| Panerai | ★★★☆☆ | Case shape and strap fidelity are superb, movement is tough | 400 – 500 | Buy for the case, skip if the movement bothers you |
Rolex: VSF’s Home Turf
Submariner 41 mm (126610LN/LV). The best seller, and the green-bezel black-dial “Starbucks” is especially hot. For the 41 mm third-generation Sub, VSF is the obvious pick because only VSF has the long-reserve Dandong 3235. If you want the 40 mm second-generation (3135 caliber), Clean’s green dial is the better one: it plates a gold layer first and then lacquers green, so it flashes gold under different light. VSF’s second-gen green dial is lacquered straight onto the brass blank and the shade is slightly off. The no-date 124060 runs the 3230 with no dead position. Dealer retail around $600, and the current VSF Rolex line-up runs from the Oyster Perpetual all the way up to the weighted Daytona.
Datejust 41 V2. The diamond-marker 126334 line is the most popular. The V2 is full 904L, 11.7 mm thick, 135 g, three-layer PVD fluted bezel, 2.5x cyclops. The 2026 batches moved from a 5X to a 6X serial prefix, the bracelet switched to Clean-supply-chain parts, and the clasp carries the flat-top A with code ORV. VSF used to make only stick-marker Datejusts; the diamond-marker (VR) version is a recent addition. On pure dial-and-case accuracy V Factory nails a few details better, but VSF’s movement and QC are a different class. That is the trade-off.
GMT-Master II V3. Clean used to have the Dandong 3285 exclusively. When that contract expired VSF got the movement and launched four versions: Batman, Sprite, V3 Pepsi and a precious-metal Sprite. The V3 Pepsi’s colour-shifting bezel, sharper minute-hand tip, flatter and more correct seconds-hand disc, and finer 2022-spec bezel teeth all beat Clean. Clean’s bracelet feels marginally nicer. Skip the precious-metal Sprite: the green is wrong and the weight is short.
Daytona 4131. VSF’s most expensive line at $800 to $1,100. The three versions share identical external parts. V3 is the Dandong 4131, V2 is the Dandong 4130 in the new 126500 case, and V1 is the 4801 cut-down caliber (unidirectional winding, 55 hours, but quieter, with the same failure rate as the 4131). Choosing the V1 on a budget is nothing to be ashamed of. On two-tone and gold, always take the weighted version. On arrival, check that “10” on the 3 o’clock sub-dial.
Day-Date 40 V2. Dandong 3255, 70 hours, quick-jump day and date. The V2 adds weight inside the center links and comes to 181 g; the V1 is 147 g, gen is over 210 g. The V2 costs roughly $150 more than the V1, and it is worth it.
Explorer 36/40, Air-King, Oyster Perpetual. All on the 3230 with no dead position, which is the fundamental difference from Clean’s version on the Shanghai 3230. The Dandong gives 70 hours; the Shanghai does not get there. The OP black dial’s sunburst is as good as this industry gets. The first OP bracelet batch was genuinely poor and has been fully sorted over several runs.
Omega: The Best Value Line
Seamaster 300M V4. The hottest Omega, $400 to $480. The V4 swapped in the integrated movement; bezel, dial, hands, bracelet and case stayed the same, and they were already the ceiling of the market. The V3 black dial is fully discontinued, so any new black dial is a V4. When buying, look at the balance: the V4 has a full round cutout, the V3 shows only half the balance wheel.
Aqua Terra 150. The 38 mm uses the single-barrel 8800, the 41 mm the twin-barrel 8900. The 38 mm weighs 135 g against 136 g for the Swiss piece. Go for the black dial or the Railmaster gradient grey. The early turquoise gradient was badly off; a colour-corrected version came later, so buy that one. $380 to $420.
Planet Ocean 600M. Already upgraded to a V4 integrated movement. The 39.5 mm small-case version shares the Seamaster 300’s caliber. Bezel markings are fired enamel and have shown essentially no fading to date. $450 to $550.
Constellation 5th generation. The Dandong 8900 is VSF-exclusive. Other factories use Citizen or Seagull calibers, so their date setting does not match the original. VSF’s sets the date via the hour hand, backwards-capable, slow-jump, with no danger zone. Measured 41.19 mm across and 13.6 mm thick, running 0 to 2 seconds a day. Note the line is shrinking, so if you want a coloured dial, move early.
De Ville. The third generation is discontinued and on clearance, nearly impossible to find. Some sellers substitute KY Factory pieces, which are close in build but a notch down on detail and far cheaper. Wait for VSF’s integrated-movement version.
Panerai: Buy for the Case, Not the Movement
Panerai is where VSF started, and demand is driven by specific references rather than lines: PAM441, 1441, 683, 1226, 961, 312, 688, 1055 and 974. The case and strap are the genuine strengths. The 42 mm PAM683 pairs a matte ceramic bezel with a sandblasted-grain dial, blue running seconds at 9, and a balance positioned at 7 o’clock, as on gen. The rubber strap has the dive-suit stretch built in, and the feel matches the factory strap. You cannot buy that quality aftermarket. The P9000 may be “a 7750 gear train with an automatic module bolted on”, but it is tough: there are cases of a watch dropped twice where both times only screws came loose and the movement itself was fine.
The shortcomings I covered above: one movement for every reference, 42 mm minimum, thicker than gen, fast unidirectional rotor, and a regulated balance where gen is free-sprung. On solid-caseback models you never see any of that. On display-back models, go in with eyes open. $400 to $500.
Audemars Piguet: The New Benchmark for 2026
VSF launched the 15500 (grey and blue dials) first in 2026, then the 15510 (blue and green) two months later. The 15500 measures 41 mm across and 10.4 mm thick, matching gen; the 15510 is 41.3 mm and 10.7 mm. The Dandong 4302 integrated movement runs 70 to 72 hours, while the Shanghai 4302 in APS pieces gets only about 50. On the dial, VSF’s grey is closer to gen (APS runs too dark), the blue is a lighter shade with a fine sunburst that gets close to the genuine “dead blue”, the tapisserie bevels run horizontally to all four edges, and the minute hand length is correct. APS’s minute hand is too long and too flat, and its 15510 even uses the 15500’s perforated plate by mistake. On the bracelet, VSF articulates both the top and bottom end links, so it hugs smaller wrists noticeably better.
The more practical point: APS was raided around April 2026 and is down to clearance stock, with no word on whether it comes back. For long-term Royal Oak supply, it is VSF.
How to Confirm You Got a Real VSF
The biggest risk is not VSF’s quality. It is sellers shipping another factory’s watch under the VSF name, which is rampant among social-media sellers. Five checkpoints:
- Price. Anything labelled VSF under $400 can be dismissed outright.
- Lead time. A non-stock piece promised within two days is wrong.
- The five movement tells (Rolex 3235 family). Serial starts with ES; regulator on the right; centered PowerFlex shock absorber; a high-polish clutch column below the “3235” engraving that rotates when winding, pops up when the crown is pulled and sinks when pushed back; 27 ball bearings. The Shanghai version hides its regulating assembly inside.
- Clasp and rehaut codes. Submariner clasp code currently 3VV with rehaut Q6670504; Datejust clasp ORV; GMT clasp F6U with caseback code 2520; Daytona on the MX-coded bracelet carries the flat-top A. Codes change with batches, but a piece that matches none of the known versions is a problem.
- Weight. Steel pieces within 3 g of gen, Datejust V2 near 135 g, Day-Date V2 near 181 g. Far off means either not VSF or not the weighted version.
Verdict
VSF quality in one sentence: the exterior has reached the ceiling of being indistinguishable from gen at normal social distance, the movement line is exclusive Dandong that no one else can source, and the QC is good enough that dealers ship ten out of ten straight from the box. The cost is a little more money, a little more waiting, and relying on your dealer for support. If your budget is $600 to $1,100 and you want a Rolex you can wear for five-plus years without thinking about it, VSF is the first choice. If you want the highest version of an Omega for a little over $400, the Seamaster 300 V4 has no rival. For a Royal Oak after the APS shutdown, it is VSF’s 15500/15510. Panerai is a buy-for-the-case decision. Before you order, remember three things: there is no official site, the price has a floor, and open the caseback.
FAQ
How many years does a VSF watch last? Based on customer feedback, the Dandong 3235/3230/4130/4131 go five-plus years, the 3135 four-plus, the Omega 8800/8500/8900 four-plus, and the 4302 is a 2026 release with lifespan still to be determined. The factory has never published official figures.
VSF or Clean? Visually almost identical; you need the caseback off to tell. For the 41 mm Sub, Datejust 41, GMT V3 and Daytona, go VSF, since the movement stability and QC are a class apart. For the 40 mm second-gen green Sub, Clean’s dial process is worth considering. That said, Clean has been raided, so the question is going stale on its own.
Does VSF gold weigh the same as gen? The weighted versions use an internal tungsten ring. Steel and two-tone are now close; platinum still has a clear gap, which is down to material density.
Is there a VSF official website? No, there never has been. Every site selling VSF is an independent dealer. Pick the one that is transparent, shows QC photos, and tells the truth about price and lead time, like the VSF Watches Hub mentioned above.
